by Jared Carl | Dec. 4, 2017, 11:23pm
Idstein first got involved in local politics when he joined the Grayslake Chamber of Commerce Board in 1985. Over his seventeen-year tenure on the Board, he had the honor of serving two terms as President and is still an active member today. He was also appointed to serve on the Grayslake Village Planning and Zoning Commission between 1991 and 2002, to which he was reappointed last summer. In 2002, he took a break from the Village and Chamber to grow his local small business, focus on his family and serve his community as a youth sports coach and volunteer for PADS Homeless Shelter.
As a mortgage professional, Idstein has dedicated his life to helping families achieve the dream of homeownership in the communities of Lake County. He has seen firsthand how the state's financial problems and corruption have negatively affected taxpayers, homeowners, local businesses, and even our public servants like his wife Ania.
Idstein is running for office because wants to fight for the people and communities he loves.
One of seven children born and raised in Grayslake, Idstein has lived in his district his entire life. He graduated from Grayslake Central High School and has 5 children and 3 grandchildren. His wife, Ania, is a Chicago Public School teacher.
