State Representative Mark Batinick earned a B.S. in business education from the University of Illinois in 1992. Foregoing a steady paycheck, Mark immediately chased the American dream and started his own business. He has been self-employed ever since. Mark is currently a commercial real estate broker. The vast majority of his clients are small business owners. As a result, Mark has directly witnessed the negative effects of Illinois’ hostile business environment in recent years.
As a small business owner and consultant, Mark understands how to save money and make organizations run more efficiently. As a citizen, he has exposed waste and inefficiencies of local government bodies. He worked to provide alternative solutions that are not only more cost-effective but also improve government services.
Batinick is the founder of the Will County Liberty Club and served as chairman of the “For the Good of Illinois” political action committee. Both organizations are dedicated to bringing transparency and efficiency to government—one at the local level and one at the state level. Mark has also been a member of the Plainfield and Oswego chambers of commerce and coached youth basketball and soccer teams.
Representative Batinick and his wife, Ellen, reside in Plainfield with their five children.
